What We Believe

Our Vision

Our vision is to become ONE FAMILY: a congregation that is truly representational of the population of Grand Cayman in terms of race, nationality, economic standing, age and gender, with ONE PURPOSE: fulfilling The Great Commandment (Matt 22:37-39) and The Great Commission (Matt. 28: 19-20) through the power of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ; and with ONE DESTINY: to "be with the Lord forever." (1 Thess. 4:17).

Our Mission statement

The Church of God Chapel exists to help people know God and demonstrate His presence in the lives.

Our Emphasis

Our emphasis lies in two points: unity of all believers and holiness in relationships with God and our fellow humans.

Why Are We Often Called the Chapel

We believe that the Bible teaches that the term church can only be applied to a body of Christians, either all believers world-wide or a local group of believers that fellowship together. Chapel refers to the building, our place of worship.

We Are Evangelical

The Bible is our source of authority. We believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Son, God the Father & God the Holy Spirit. We believe that all persons are sinners by nature. We believe that salvation is a gift through Jesus dying on the cross. We believe in a literal heaven for the saved and a literal hell for the lost (unsaved).

We Are Non-Denominational

We follow no prescribed creed other than the Bible. We are not under any binding, unbending organizational structure. We do not follow any legalistic statements or enforce particulars to one's life-style, such as dress, diet, etc.

We Practice

  • Water Baptism by immersion for new converts
This is an identification with Christ, not with a particular church group. We do not practice infant baptism. Rather, we practice Blessing or Dedication of Children.

  • Communion, or "the Lord's Supper".
A celebration of the participation each Christian has in the church through union with Jesus. It commemorates Jesus' death on our behalf, as well as looks forward to His return. All believers - including visitors - are encouraged to participate. We say that Communion is for the forgiven, not the perfect.

  • Foot Washing.
Done in response to John 13:14-17, symbolizing the servant ministry of all believers.

  • Infant Blessing/Dedication:
    As exemplified in the Bible.

How Can You Join Our Church

If you are a Christian, with a clear knowledge that you have been born again as a result of personally confessing your sins and accepting God's forgiveness through Jesus' death on the cross, all you need to do is begin worshipping with us. Simply let the Pastor know that you wish to make this your church home. You are a member because you are a Christian.

If you have been worshipping elsewhere and wish to fellowship with us, a letter of transfer of membership from your pastor is helpful, but not necessary.

If you are an earnest seeker and wish to know how to become a Christian, we offer a Membership Class that covers the foundational teachings that will guide you toward a commitment to Jesus, as well as leading to baptism and membership.
